KINGS GROUP

Kings Group is a conglomerate of five companies under the leadership of Mr. Abdul Aziz Memon, Chairman and Mr. Muhammad Munir Memon, Managing Director. The management’s core values are simple; progress, ethics and community welfare. The Group’s excellent reputation in Pakistan and abroad endorses their focus on excellence in every business.

The first company, Kings Apparel Industries (Pvt.) Ltd. was incorporated in 1988. It was soon followed by:

  • Kings Textile Industries Ltd.,
  • Ace Travels (Pvt.) Ltd.,
  • Kings Clothing (A franchise of United Colors of Benetton) and
  • Grand Builders and Developers.

Kings Group has stake in manufacturing textiles, retail, travel, real estate development, medical supplies distribution and clinical research, solar power and energy provision, and in business outsourcing.

Kings Group is one of the leading Manufacturing & Exporting Group of Pakistan with a work force of over 5000 people including 150 hard-core professionals. The group expects a total turnover of approximately US $ 35 million during the current fiscal year, more than fifty per cent of which will be contributed by the export of knitwear to the European and American Markets. The core company of the Group namely Kings Apparel Industries (Pvt.) Limited, has been awarded Six “Best Export Performance Trophies” and Five “Special Merit Trophies” by the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry for the last eleven years successively for highest export in the category of knitted garments.

The headquarters of the Group is located in a newly constructed purpose built building having a covered area of 11,700 sq. ft. on a plot of 2200 yard in the posh locality of Clifton, at 91, Shahrah-e-Iran, Clifton, Karachi. The office is equipped with most modern communication facilities to cater to the needs of our valued clients in a prompt and efficient manner.

Kings Apparel Industries and Kings Textile Industries form a composite knitwear industry spread over 6 acres with a covered area of 250,000 sq. ft. It is equipped with 30 circular knitting machines, a dye-house with a capacity of dyeing 14 tons of fabric per day having state-of-the-art Open Width Santex Finishing System having a Santa Cut, Double Pad, Santa Shrink and Santa Compact with Wiko machine and a Tubetex Compactor for tubular fabric. It has eleven stitching units having 1100 stitching machine of best brand names. Today it has a product range of export quality knit fabric, knitted casuals, sportswear for men, women, children, and infants.

Chairman – Aziz Memon

Aziz Memon has had a remarkable and illustrious career. He began his career in aviation, working for PIA and then with aeronautical companies abroad. In 1988 he set up the apparel manufacturing business and his dynamic disposition and courage helped turn it into a legacy. Under his visionary leadership, group diversified from the core business and established businesses in travel, retail and construction. His far sightedness has rendered many innovations in business systems and models.

Over the years Aziz Memon has represented the government in countless international conferences on trade, transport, and labor; He has also founded and chaired numerous industry, trade and social forums such as Business Forum, Textile Quota Supervisory Council, Export Promotion Bureau, Pakistan Knitwear and Sweaters Exporters Association, Export Committee of Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Citizen Police Liaison Committee, Pakistan – U.S.A. Trade and Industry, Committee of Federation of Pakistan, Chamber of Commerce and Industry. His contribution to the social welfare and to the social welfare and community development is unparalleled. Aziz Memon has been an active Rotarian and was the International District Governor 2007 – 2008 Pakistan & Afghanistan.

Chairman Polio Plus Committee, Pakistan for Rotary International. Aziz Memon also supports and sponsors numerous other charitable causes in health and education. He is also the president of his ethnic community body. Aziz Memon is also the President of Karachi Boat Club, a private rowing and social club. He has also been a skillful diplomat.

Managing Director – Munir Memon

Munir Memon began his career in a bank at the age of 16 after completing his early schooling from Mumbai and then Karachi. He acquired a Masters from the Institute of Bankers, Pakistan, He continued to rise through the ranks. His dedicated struggle in the banking industry for 15 years prepared him to establish one of Pakistan’s best knit manufacturing facilities.

Munir co-founded the apparel business and then with a single minded focus created systems, set up a state of the art production and implemented world class quality control. The number and reputation of Kings Apparel buyers endorse the quality of production managed by Munir Memon. He has also been an impelling force behind the complete forward and backward integration of the facility.

Munir Memon’s contribution to human resource development has been a key force behind the company’s success. His continual performance based incentivization, motivation and above all a commitment to the welfare of the employees of the Group and their families is exemplary.

He has made many Memon is an avid golfer and has supports sport in the local community.

He endorses the role of human resource in business success and envisages even better people management in the business to propel it forward.

Director – Naheed Memon

Naheed is an entrepreneur and business manager. She heads the retail, travel, alternative energy and business outsourcing divisions in her family owned business. Naheed has initiated and established various ventures in the family business.
Franchises have been acquired in the retail and travel space and major technological travel space and major technological improvements were implemented in the in manufacturing unit.

She started her career with PIA where she worked for two years in the MIS and software developing officer and consultant in the MIS team before going to England. She set up a management consultancy firm in the United Kingdom which serviced clients such as PwC, Foreign High Commissions, Oil and Gas companies etc. Later she joined Merrill Lynch and worked in the private bank on the asset management side and serviced global high net worth clients and institutions.

Naheed is also an academician and has taught in business schools in Pakistan and in the United Kingdom. She is teaches Economics and Finance at the Institute of Business Administration in Karachi, Pakistan.

She holds a MSc. in Economics from Birkbeck College, London and an MBA
from Tanaka Business School, Imperial College, London. Naheed works on the managing committees of non government organizations n mental health and education.

Director – Umair Memon

Umair is a graduate from York University, Canada. He has recently returned from university to join his family business.

Kings Group began its operations in 1984 through its first business concern, Kings Apparel Industry, under the leadership of Aziz Memon and Munir Memon. The first order processed was of 1000 t-shirts only.

The leadership quickly converted this opportunity into a large scale operation. Investments were made in land and machinery and gradually all processes were
internalized.

Kings Apparel Industry is based in Korangi Industrial Area on eight acres of land in purpose designed buildings. Manufacturing is totally integrated within this facility and encompasses knitting, dyeing, printing, embroidery, stitching and warehousing.

EXPANSION AND GROWTH

Diversifications began soon after the core textile manufacturing business was established.
Within the first ten years, the management set up an IATA travel agency, acquired an Italian clothing franchise – United Colors of Benetton and set up a property development and construction business.

In 2001 the group pioneered a remarkable project of growing organic cotton in Winder, 70 km outside Karachi, on barren land.

More than 5000 acres are under cultivation today and the farmers’ community in this under developed part of Pakistan has access to income, education and healthcare.

The Group expects a total turnover of approximately US$ 60 million during the current year.
Kings Group of Companies employs 6000 people.
